What Makes D4Act Different
In a field crowded with international consultancies, D4Act stands apart: we are African-led, evidence-obsessed, and committed to building permanent local capacity rather than extracting knowledge from communities.

African-Led, Globally Rigorous
Too often, development research in Africa is designed in Washington, London, or Geneva and parachuted into local contexts. D4Act reverses this model. Our research questions emerge from African stakeholders. Our methodologies are adapted to African data realities - including low connectivity, multilingual populations, and informal economies that don't fit neatly into standard survey instruments.
According to the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), only 30% of evaluations conducted in Sub-Saharan Africa are led by African researchers. D4Act is changing that statistic, one rigorous study at a time.
"Development evidence must be produced by those who understand the context most deeply. External expertise has its place, but sustainable change requires local ownership of the knowledge production process."
- D4Act Founding PrincipleBeyond Reporting: We Build Systems
Many consulting firms deliver a final report and move on. D4Act takes a different approach: we build the monitoring and evaluation infrastructure that allows organizations to continue generating evidence independently. This includes designing data collection protocols, training local M&E officers, deploying real-time dashboards, and embedding learning feedback loops into program management.
The World Bank's Independent Evaluation Group has noted that sustainability of M&E systems is one of the weakest links in development programming. D4Act directly addresses this gap by making capacity building a core deliverable - not an afterthought.

Technology-Forward, Context-Smart
We integrate the latest advances in data science and artificial intelligence - machine learning models, satellite imagery analysis, natural language processing of local languages - while remaining grounded in the practical realities of data collection in resource-constrained settings. Our tools are designed for low-bandwidth environments, multilingual contexts, and situations where traditional household surveys may not capture the full picture.
Our Strategic Approach
D4Act's solutions are built on a structured strategy tree: from foundational values to cross-cutting methods to sector-specific impact delivery.
